1978 OATS SURVEY REPORT AgEcon
Welsch, Delane E.; Stuthman, Deon; Showman, Alan.
A mail survey was conducted in 1977 of farmers who were thought to be oats producers, using names obtained from several lists. The purpose of the 1977 mail survey was to obtain answers to the following questions: (1) What kind of farmer grows oats, (2) Where does he grow them, (3)Why does he grow them, (4) How does he produce them? Answers to these questions should enable the breeding program and the Extension Program at the University of Minnesota to better address the problems of oat production and thus maintain, or hopefully improve the relative competitive ability of oats as a crop in Minnesota.

1998 MICHIGAN PRELIMINARY CASH GRAIN BUSINESS ANALYSIS FOR FARMS SOUTH OF I-96 AgEcon
Nott, Sherrill B..
A common observation during the autumn of 1998 was that the growing season had been more favorable south of I-96 than it was to the north. This highway bisects Michigan from roughly Detroit to Muskegon. The following tables are presented for this southern portion of Michigan indicating what farmers in the Telfarm accounting system achieved in terms of crop yields and financial returns during 1998. It is hoped later reports will show what cash grain farms in the area north of I-96 achieved.

Cash grain farms have 50 percent or more of value of combined sales from corn, soybeans, wheat, all varieties of navy beans, oats, and other small grains. This report is a summary of the financial and production records kept by cash grain farmers enrolled in the Telfarm/MicroTel record program through Michigan State University Extension.,...
